Both teams suffered late cancellations and hastily agreed a fixture at short notice. We were both suffering a few missing but were keen to play against such similar clubs. Walden started well but knew they were against a strong and tight knit pack. Give and take in the set piece meant for some hard work to break the defensive lines. After eight minutes, The ball went wide right, Finn didn't need an invitation to put on the after burners to run from half way to score, this time remembering to head for the posts as well! shortly after the ball went up the middle, a break was on and Finn was off his wing looking for the ball, duly popped up and another try. 14-0. Walden looked a bit comfortable, Woodbridge competing well the breakdown and controlling too much play. They scored a good try after 22 mins and again on the stroke f half time. 14-10 and it was a cracking game.
Walden seemed to rise to the challenge in the second half, being more controlled and patient which lead to a steady stream of scores. The ball was moving really well though the backs, Oisin scoring two tries in quick succession, followed by Harry VW, Ryan and Jack.
Harry M was on fantastic form, linking really well to provide overlaps for the wings, calmly dealing with the kicks and standing up well in the tackle to allow support to arrive. Excellent. Morgan was back of the day for all round defence and superb distribution, Kaelen for making a massive impact when he came on, some outstanding tackles nd work-rate at the breakdown.
Impressive stuff lads, well played.
Special thanks to Woodbridge for making the trip over, what a wonderful bunch of young gentlemen who display all the good things we like in rugby. Amazing coaches and parents, a thoroughly enjoyable fixture, we look forward to the next one. Thank you.
