In a really entertaining game the Saxons had the strong wind in their favour in the first half and soon capitalised with tries by No8 James Gosden and then 2 by Fly half Conor McCabe, Fullback Oscar Norman converting one in tricky conditions to go 17 points up after 25 mins on the clock.
Cambridge came back into the game with 2 close range tries of their own as their forwards made some nice breaks leaving the half- time score at 17- 12.
With the wind in their favour Cambridge must have thought that the game was there for the taking but Walden Saxons started to play some really good attacking rugby running the ball out of defence as kicking the ball against the strong wind was proving futile.
Another try by Gosden set them on their way and then Norman ran virtually the length of the pitch evading a couple of tackles and out pacing the covering defence to go under the posts.
Front Row Simon Hallows got in on the act to score his first try of the game and then flanker Elliot Kelsall rounded things off taking the score to 50 – 12 at the final whistle. Norman converting all but one of the second half tries.
A great second half and captain Nick Brown was happy to lift the trophy after a near perfect performance from 1 – 23.
