U17 Essex league
Rochford 5
Saffron Walden 24

A dominant display of forward play on a mild wet Sunday morning. From the 1st Kick off Walden applied serious pressure to an ill disciplined Rochford pack. Too many infringement kept Walden in the home teams 22. Such heavy pressure led to a textbook pickup from the base of the ruck from Nik Baker who has the presence of mind to carry the ball under the posts for Walden's only try of the 1st half. Captain Mark Kimberley kicked superbly slotting 1 conversion and 4 penalties. The Commitment from the back row was outstanding Emiel Pronk, Byron Jenkins and Anil Noonan dominated. Morgan Opie who's strength and power in the maul was rewarded with a second half try in the corner to put the game completely out of reach. Oli Haskins decision making at Scrum half  kept Rochford guessing the entire game Dan Clark & Dave Butcher kept their cool in less than ideal conditions.
Next week the U17 are again in action in the Essex league at home to Upminster.
Well deserved man of the match award went to Oli Haskins..
