Cancellation and adverse weather policy

HOME FIXTURES/COACHING

An initial pitch inspection will be carried out by either James Potter, Robin Wardle or a senior coach at the club no later than Saturday evening, and if possible a decision taken on whether or not to proceed that evening.
In the event of the forecast of a late frost Sunday morning, another inspection will be made in good time allowing for cancellation to be circulated to members and visiting teams. In the event of marginal conditions, Ed Norman and Rachael O’Brien will made any final decision as the Club health and safety officer. If feasible any cancellation notice will be posted onto the SWRFC website before Sunday 9.00am
When bad weather is anticipated - or already underway- we will update the website with a message reminding people of the process below and a link to mobile numbers of head coaches of each age group.
Head coaches will be placed on stand-by the night before, to allow fast communication of the pitch inspection outcome, as will the visiting team.
As soon as the decision is taken, James Potter/Robin Wardle or Senior Coach will let, Neal Hooper, Ed Norman and Rachael O’Brien know and they will cascade this message on to all head coaches who will further cascade this to parents by email/text/telephone, as well as the visiting team.
The decision to cancel training and matches will include the entire mini and youth section and does not allow individual training for teams. For reasons of Health and Safety of the players this decision is final.
If the conditions are marginal and it is considered to be safe for light training, no contact play maybe undertaken and this will be communicated to the coaches before training can commence.

AWAY FIXTURES

We will arrange with the coaching team of the home club to have the pitch inspected as early as possible on the morning of the game, if not the night before.
As soon we know the outcome, the above process will kick in as per home games/coaching arrangements
